This post is about unique mother’s day gift ideas that every mother would love.

Unique Mother’s Day Gifts

Idea #1: Gift Subscription Boxes

For when you have an idea of what your mom likes, but not really,  gift subscription boxes allow her to have something that she likes without you having to pick her brain. Gift subscriptions usually have a variety of gifts in one gift basket or gift box, allowing your mom the opportunity to test out new things in a familiar niche. There are multiple types of subscription boxes out there: makeup, various snacks, wine, tea, books, flowers, cheeses, coffee, self care boxes, the list goes on and on. Do some research on the type of box you want to give her, and the different types of subscriptions they have to offer. Some offer monthly boxes, 3,6, or 12 month plans, while others will just let you pick out one custom curated box, so you can pick out which gift is best for her.

Idea #2: A New Experience

The restaurants are going to be packed with people taking their moms out to eat, so why don’t you try something a little different. I mean, please make sure she eats ( I do not condone starving your mom), but take her out on a little adventure. Does your city put on any fun tours? Any plays coming up that you think she would like? Any concerts (either in an arena, or in a park) that she would love to hear? Take her! I know if you download the Airbnb app, they have a section called “Experiences” with a wide variety of options for events in your area. They offer everything from cooking classes, to photo shoots and even a few city tours. Read over the reviews and pick something that you think she would really enjoy. If you live near a body of water, look into a boat tour, or a kayaking adventure.

Idea #3: An Old School Experience

Plan out a picnic in a park, or by the beach if you live near one. Take her to a drive-in-move, but please pick a movie she would actually want to see. Grab all of her favorite snacks and beverages, don’t forget the blankets (in case she gets cold), park somewhere near a decent bathroom, grab the hand sanitizer, bring weather appropriate gear (if you will be out in the elements), and just take out the time to have a nice day. Don’t rush through it, and try to plan out everything in advance so you are not panicked the day of.

Idea #4: Hobby Fuel

Every mom has something she likes to do, but maybe she could use a few things to improve the experience. Does she love to go on walks, but usually just keeps her phone in her pocket? Get her a cell phone armband to make changing songs during her workout that much easier. Does she love to garden? Get her an insulated water bottle to keep her water cold while she is out in the hot sun. Think about what her favorite hobby is, and what you could do to add to the enjoyment of her craft.

Idea #5: That Thing She Needs But Never Gets Herself

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right? Yeah, no….. if she needs a new something, grab one for her for Mother’s Day before hers breaks. Are her running shoes on their last leg? Buy her some new ones, either the same kind, or at least the same brand. Does she needs a new wallet, keychain, container to hold her sewing supplies? Look at all the things she uses on a daily basis. If anything looks worn, go get her a new one. She will appreciate it.

Idea #6: The Comfy Stuff

Everyone loves being comfortable. Not the most unique gift idea, but who doesn’t love a nice pair of slippers, a super soft robe, a really nice pair of pajamas, or a luxe plush blanket. Grab her a pair of slippers with memory foam or faux fur lining to keep her toes warm on those cold winter days. A super soft blanket is great for curling up on the couch with while watching tv, or reading a book.

Idea # 7: Something Homemade

Pinterest and YouTube are full of ideas for DIY (do-it-yourself) projects that are easy to complete, fun to do, and easy on the wallet. I made this candy bouquet by myself with things I found at the dollar store. I believe I spent less than $20 and the only thing I needed outside of the dollar store goods was a hot glue gun. So look around, there will be plenty of blogs and videos to spark you interest and help you create anything from a personalized gift basket for your mom, to a set of forever flowers.

Idea #8: Photos

Who doesn’t love pictures of the people they love?!? This Mother’s Day, gather your siblings together (the furry ones count as well), and get a family picture taken to give to your mom. Or surprise her by making the appointment and telling her so she can actually be in the picture. Or gather up all of her favorite pictures and make a collage for her to hold on to. If the pictures are printed out, take them to Walgreens to make copies, and then organize the copies into a nice photo frame for her to hang. If the pictures are digital, head over to Etsy! They have some super cute photo ideas that look amazing, and don’t cost a bunch. Just search “photo collage”.

Idea #9: The Gift of You

Maybe my previous suggestions are a little bit out of your budget. Do not worry, this last mother’s day idea is wonderful, and will cost you zero dollars. Everyone was born with a gift. Use your gift to make Mother’s Day a memorable one! Can you cook? Cook your mother her favorite meal, or make a dessert or snack she would truly enjoy. Clean up a room for her that constantly in disarray, paint a nice picture, write a poem or a creative story, declutter the junk drawer, the list goes on and on of things you can do to help her out.

I hope that reading over these gift ideas helps you pick out the perfect Mother’s Day gift.
