7 Insanely Easy Steps to Get Free Makeup

If you are anything like me, you love trying out new makeup products, and you also love to receive things in the mail, that aren’t bills. As a makeup enthusiast, I am giving you the steps that I follow in order to receive free makeup.

You are going to learn all of the things that I have done myself to receive makeup in the mail, from making my own reviews, to staying on top of my emails.

After learning all of these steps, you will be on your way to scoring free makeup of your own, and maybe even some other interesting products.

This post is all about easy it could be for you to get free makeup.

Best Way to Acquire Free Makeup

Head over to Influenster.com

Influenster.com is a website, and an app, where thousands of people go to review everything under the sun, from grocery and healthcare, to toys and games, but what I mainly use it for is the opportunity to learn about, and try, the newest makeup releases.

Set Up an Account

You can do this on their website, but I feel like the app is easier to navigate. Create a user name, and a password for yourself, and if you want to, put up a profile picture. I also linked a few of my social media accounts. Now I know that may sound scary, but the reason why I attached my accounts was so that Influenster could get an idea of how many people might see my page. A little bit about Influenster is, they send you products from different brands for free, in exchange for your honest review. I’ve left reviews on the brand’s own website, on the website where the product itself is being sold, on the Influenster website itself (because having those reviews in the palm of your hand is actually very convenient), and my own Instagram page. Now, if you are uncomfortable with that, you do not have to link your accounts, and when you start getting asked if you are comfortable posting on your page, you can always say no. I’m just letting you know what I did.

Fill Out you Account

Probably the most tedious thing you will do, but one of the most beneficial is filling out your account. Filling in the details about yourself will give them an idea about what your interested in, so they have an idea of what to send you. So when they ask you about your hair type, what type of products that you use, skin color, etc., don’t be shy, they are just trying to get good candidates together for their next campaign. And while you’re doing that, make a friend or two. On the app’s home page, you will start to see reviews on various products. If you see a review you enjoyed reading, “like it” and then go check out the reviewer. The app will tell you if you and the reviewer have any similarities, and for the ones that I am similar to, I click the follow button. Doing so gives me a heads up to new products they might try, and if they worked for them, they might work for me. And while you are in there reading reviews…..

Write Some Reviews!!!!

In the beginning, I wrote a review on EVERYTHING!!! Of course I reviewed my current eyeshadow palettes, mascaras, lipsticks, etc., but besides that, I did soap, lotion, deodorant, coffee makers, salad dressings, vitamins…..everything. The app has a barcode scanner to make looking up products easier, and unfortunately not every product is in their system, but most of them are. So I took pictures of the products, and I gave my HONEST review. Not everything you try will be a magical experience, but be honest either way, you do not get penalized for that. So if you order some clothes, and they come with holes in them (and you didn’t order it with holes), leave a review. That lip-gloss that you saw everyone loving on TikTok turn out to be trash? Leave an honest review.

Watch your Inbox

Now here is one of my favorite parts. You are randomly going to get an email from Influenster, and it will be titled, “Are you the perfect fit for our next campaign?”

OPEN. THAT. IMMEDIATELY.

That is a time sensitive survey that has to be filled out in order to get into their newest campaign, what Influenster calls a “voxbox”. The fun part is, you don’t get to know what company the campaign is for. So fill out the survey honestly and completely, and pick on the colors and items that you are truly interested in trying out. This might also be a time where you get a better understanding of other free items you can receive. There are a lot of things out there to be explored, so if you are interested in those things as well, fill out the survey honestly. One survey might have several different campaigns attached to it, and at the end, you might get a sneak peak on the brands involved in that campaign. There is no guarantee that you receive those items, but its exciting to think you might.

The Waiting Game

One day, you are going to open your front door, and there will be a box waiting there for you. No, seriously. Sometimes you will receive products before you are even told you got into the campaign. Sometimes if you are looking in the app, a campaign might show up on your “About” page, but a lot of times, I got the voxbox before I ever received the email saying I would get the box.

Complete Your Review

But this time before the campaign goes live is actually the best, because you can take your time to get some good pictures, (you know those pretty pictures that people take of eyeshadow palettes, before they swatch them up?), get some good wear tests in, and really get your opinion together on the product. Once the campaign is live in your app, leave a good review. There might be several activities you need to complete in order complete the campaign, so try to do them as soon as you can, so you don’t forget about it, and so Influenster knows they can trust you with not running off with the goods (lol I don’t know if that is actually a concern, but I know I keep completing my campaigns, and they keep sending me stuff, so I want to keep a good thing going).
